The Miracle of Isra’ and Mi‘raj
All
praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may the peace and
blessings of Allah be upon our Beloved Holy Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad
al-Mustafa (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) in perpetuity, till the Day
of Judgement, Amin.
We need to acquire the ‘ilm
(knowledge) about Isra’ and Mi‘raj. Once we have this ‘ilm, it will
light up our hearts with nur (spiritual light), then we will do the
‘amal salih (good deeds) connected with Isra’ and Mi‘raj, musk scented
with the love of Rasulullah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam).
Isra’ is the Night Journey of
our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) from the
Ka‘ba in Makka to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem on the 27th of Rajab,
about one year before the Hijra. He rode the heavenly animal Buraq
which Archangel Jibril (‘Alayhissalam) had brought for him for the
Night Journey. This journey which took about a month in those days,
took the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) only a part of a
night. In Masjid al-Aqsa, he led in Prayer all the Prophets (peace be
upon them) who had gathered there. Hence, he is called Sayyid
al-Mursalin (the Leader of all the Prophetic Messengers).
Mi‘raj is his ascension from
Masjid al-Aqsa to the heavens until he reached Hadratillah (Presence of
Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted). This is his heavenly miracle
and one of the most significant events in world history. No other
Prophet of Allah achieved such exaltation.
Muslims believe in the
miracles of all the Prophets sent by Allah. For example, we believe
that fire did not burn but became cool for Sayyidina Nabi Ibrahim
(peace be upon him) when the disbelievers threw him into it. The Red
Sea parted to make way for Sayyidina Nabi Musa (peace be upon him) and
his followers to cross. Sayyidina Nabi ‘Isa (peace be upon him) talked
while yet a baby, healed lepers, and made dead people alive with the
Will of Allah. Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala) does as He wills to help
whom He wills.
Takbir! Allahu Akbar!
Declare the Greatness of Allah! Allah is Supremely Great!
Declare the Greatness of Allah! Allah is Supremely Great!
Allah gave Prophet Muhammad
(Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) the greatest number of miracles compared
to all the other Prophets (peace be upon them).
